Twin Eagles: Are They Worth the Money?

When people come to BBQ Depot looking for reliable, luxurious, high-end grills for their outdoor kitchen or patio space, the Twin Eagles brand often comes up in conversation. Customers interested in grills of this caliber are typically amateur chefs (though not always) and are looking for something leaning more toward a commercial grilling experience than a backyard barbecue.

Customers asking us about Twin Eagles grills are hoping to create an outdoor kitchen worthy of the glossy pages of a home decor magazine. They love hosting parties and entertaining their guests. This is particularly true of people who live in climates that are suitable for outdoor events during the majority of the year, such as California, Florida, and many southern states.

The thing that gives many customers pause is the price tag. In the luxury grill space, Twin Eagles grills are priced right between their two main competitors (Alfresco and Lynx). The question is: Are they really worth the money?

We’ll dive into this question, give our recommendations, and also point you toward another Twin Eagles brand if you’re looking for the same high quality, but at a lower starting price.

Are Twin Eagles Grills Worth the Hype?

In short — yes, Twin Eagles grills are worth the money and do live up to the hype. But it’s also important to understand what sets them apart from their competition, and the type of quality, craftsmanship, and luxury design you can expect from this company.

Twin Eagles is a family-owned business with their headquarters and manufacturing facilities in Cerritos, California. All of their grills, accessories, side burners, warming drawers, etc, are made right here in the United States and held to the highest quality standards.

Due to their commitment to excellence and their team of highly trained designers, engineers and skilled craftspeople (including the one and only Dante Cantel), Twin Eagles has become an award-winning company, creating products that are consistently rated among the best grills available on the market.

One of the things that customers love about Twin Eagles is their unique design details. Grills can start to look pretty similar — especially after you’ve been looking at them for days, or weeks, or months — but Twin Eagles makes a special effort to make their grills stand out from the crowd. Additionally, by utilizing seamless welds, they’re able to create a truly polished, classic look for their products.

Twin Eagles grills can either be built into an outdoor kitchen space, or be attached to a freestanding cart, and come with an impressive set of standard features, including:

  • Powerful 25,000 BTU, 14-gauge, 304 stainless steel burners
  • High-quality ceramic briquette heat distribution system
  • Hexagon-shaped cooking grates that create more food-to-surface contact than traditional circular rod grids
  • Individual zone dividers, which allows the chef to create multiple zones for unique heat control and regulation
  • Hot surface ignition
  • Hood assist for easy lifting
  • Interior halogen lights with a hood-activated light switch
  • Exclusive front control illumination with precise control knob settings
  • 3-position warming rack
  • Smoker box

To suit your unique needs, Twin Eagles makes four different sizes of grills:

  • 30-inch: 2 burners
  • 36-inch: 3 burners
  • 42-inch: 3 burners
  • 54-inch: 4 burners (3 stainless and one searing)

You can also choose to add a rotisserie system (it comes standard on the 54-inch model), but this one isn’t your typical cheap external mounting rotisserie motor — it’s heavy duty, mounted inside the firebox (similar to Alfresco) and the motor can power up to 100 pounds of meat on the rotisserie skewer. You will never have to remove and store the rotisserie motor. We love that there is a place to store your rotisserie rod at the front of the grease tray.

With three different warming rack positions, you can be sure to keep all your food warm before it’s time to eat.

While the searing burner also comes standard on the 54-inch grill, there is a kit available to use with the smaller models. You can also choose a model that already has the sear burner installed. Searing burners help your meat get a delicious caramelization on the outside that enhances texture and flavor profiles, in addition to preserving juices so they don’t seep out, leaving you with dry, tough meat. (This is why people are picky about grilled chicken!)

One little detail that the engineers at Twin Eagles chose to incorporate into their high-end design is soft-closing doors. This is something you’d expect in a luxury kitchen, but not necessarily something you’d think to look for in outdoor kitchens. The fact that they thought to include such a luxurious detail in their stainless-steel storage cabinets is an indication of their overall philosophy. They aren’t just designing and building grills, they’re cultivating an outdoor dining experience.

Furthermore, Twin Eagles grills come with a really great limited lifetime warranty.

Best Twin Eagles Grill

Choosing the “best” Twin Eagles grill is a tough decision because frankly, they’re all excellent. Twin Eagles makes high quality, reliable, beautiful products — you can’t really go wrong with any of them. Which one is the “best” is really a matter of what you are looking for in a grill and how you plan to use it. But if you’d like a starting point, we can give you a “best bang for your buck” kind of scenario.

Best Super Luxury Grill

Twin Eagles 36" Eagle One Built-in Grill

When only the best will do (and cost is not an option), the Twin Eagles 36" Eagle One is a super premium Grill comes standard with a infrared sear burner and integrated rotisserie system. It is also offered in two other sizes 42 inch and 54 inch.

This grill includes all the luxury features of the Standard models but steps it up with these exclusive features :

  • A continuous layer of blue Ambient Illumination that casts down over the entire control panel
  • Exact Control Illumination that changes color as the burner reaches warm, hot and searing temperatures (in excess of 900 degrees)
  • The TempTrack illumination is a series of LED’s that will average temperature from the burners to give an overall grill temperature.
  • Black Glass Infrared Rotisserie Burner that extends across the entire back of the grill.
  • Chef Grade Hexagonal Grates – Extra-large 1/2” diameter hexagonal stainless steel rod cooking grates

Best Gas-Powered Grill

Twin Eagles 36" Built-in Grill - TEBQ-36R

We are big fans of the Twin Eagles 36-inch Built-In model. It’s a great size for most outdoor kitchens because it’s not too big and it’s not too small. It offers plenty of surface space to cook on — more than enough for a backyard barbecue, or even a more substantial gathering. That being said, if you aren’t partial to a built-in grill, this 36-inch grill can be affixed to a freestanding cart.

It is also very customizable, in that you can choose to have it be powered via natural gas or propane, in addition to the options of integrating a rotisserie and/or a searing burner — both of which can be easily removed if you’d rather not use them on a particular occasion. The rotisserie motor will remain, but the stick itself can be removed.

Unless your patio is pretty small, you can probably afford to use the space for a 36-inch grill as opposed to a 30-inch. Those extra six inches will give you an additional burner, which allows you to cook more food at once, or replace one U-burner for searing.

The warming rack will keep everything nice and warm while you’re cooking the next batch, or you can take them out and place them in an external warming drawer. And while we’re on that subject, we simply have to discuss all the accessories that Twin Eagles makes to go with their grills.

Accessories

Twin Eagles makes a wide variety of storage drawers, bar accessories, paper towel drawers (to keep paper towels handy in your outdoor kitchen without risk of them getting wet), and trash drawers. All of these can be installed into outdoor kitchen cabinet spaces for a luxurious and refined look.

We also love the griddle attachment (available in either 12 for using inside the grill or 18-inch for the power burner) that rests on top of the grill surface that provides a flat surface to cook on, as opposed to risking food falling through the grates. This could be bacon, eggs, pancakes, fruit, vegetables, or just about anything else you can think of.

If you’re interested in expanding your outdoor kitchen, Twin Eagles also makes side burners so you can have additional stovetop space outside instead of running inside to check on whatever is on the stove. They even make an outdoor oven that is perfect for pizza (which cooks in under five minutes!).

And of course, no grill would be complete without a high-quality cover to keep excess moisture away in order to prevent possible damage. While Twin Eagles grills are made largely of stainless steel, harsh weather conditions (such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and hail) can still cause damage. As always, we recommend covering your grill when it’s not in use (after it cools down, of course).

Wood Fired Pellet Grill

Twin Eagles Wood Pellet Grill

Gas-powered grills are the star of the Twin Eagles show, but that is by no means their only claim to fame. If you’re not into gas-powered grills, Twin Eagles also makes a 36-inch wood fired pellet grill, which is not only a grill, but can act as a smoker or oven. The rotisserie and sear kits are also compatible with the wood fired pellet grill.

Like all other Twin Eagles grills, the wood fired version can be either built-in or freestanding, and comes with an impressive set of features:

  • Wifi enabled
  • Touch screen control
  • 304 stainless steel
  • 3-tiered cooking racks
  • Internal halogen lights
  • Variable speed fan
  • 120-volt auger motor
  • Removable burner pot
  • SmokePlus feature to quickly infuse a smokey flavor

Charcoal Grill

Twin Eagles Charcoal Grill

And finally, if you’re most comfortable with charcoal, Twin Eagles has a solution for you there as well. They make a 30-inch charcoal grill that will blow every other charcoal grill you’ve ever used right out of the water. Not only is it beautiful, but it makes the charcoal experience easier to deal with. The charcoal tray is adjustable and easily accessible from the front of the grill. Additionally, it boasts the following features:

  • Air-temperature control louvers
  • Seamless welds with high polished accents
  • Double-lined easy-glide hood
  • Temperature gauge
  • Warming rack

Regardless of the Twin Eagles grill you choose, you will be getting a reliable, luxurious product that you enjoy using every single time.

A More Affordable Alternative: Delta Heat

If you love the Twin Eagles brand but are hesitant about the price tag, you could check out Delta Heat grills. Delta Heat is a subsidiary of Twin Eagles, and while the price point starts lower, you won’t be giving up any of the attention to detail or quality that Twin Eagles prides itself on. They don’t have the same design details, but they’re no less beautiful.

Delta Heat grills still include the luxurious design elements of Twin Eagles grills, such as an LED-lit control panel, a double-lined hood to keep the heat in (and springs to create a smooth hood open and close), built-in temperature gauge, and interior halogen lights to illuminate the cooking surface.

The lights are of particular interest because some grill manufacturers only offer such details on more expensive or larger grills, but for Delta Heat, these are all standard features on every single grill — even the smallest of the product line.

Delta Heat grills come in intentionally smaller sizes (26, 32, and 38 inches), but with many of the same features, such as an optional searing burner and rotisserie function. And of course, Delta Heat grills can either be built-in or freestanding on a moveable cart.

As with Twin Eagles, Delta Heat makes a wide variety of accessories to use in your outdoor kitchen, such as storage drawers and cabinets, side burners, paper towel holders, bar accessories, trash chutes, and grill covers.

We love Delta Heat grills and frequently recommend them to customers as an affordable (but no less luxurious) alternative to Twin Eagles products.
