Grilling Recipes

Grilling is a science, but luckily it's not rocket science. Even if you consider yourself hopeless in the kitchen, you can easily become a master of outdoor cooking, capable of dazzling your friends and loved ones while driving your uninvited neighbors wild with envy. You just need to equip yourself with the right grill, a good pair of tongs and a few easy grilling recipes. Whether you're a steak lover, a fish enthusiast or even a vegan, here are a few grilling recipes to get you started. We chose these 6 easy grilling recipes because they're incredibly simple and unbelievably delicious.

Grilled Candied Bacon

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1⁄2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 lb thick cut bacon
  • 1⁄2 cup maple syrup

Mix together brown sugar and cayenne pepper in a small bowl. Cover strips of bacon with brown sugar mixture. Then, place the bacon on a griddle on top of your cooking grid and allow to cook until the bacon starts to crisp. Then brush the top of the bacon with maple syrup, flip the bacon and brush the other side with maple syrup as well. Allow to continue to cook until it is to your preference of doneness. Remove and serve.

*For extra sweetness, serve with a small side of maple syrup for dipping!

10-Minute Grilled Chicken

Place 4 skinless, boneless breast halves in a large re-sealable bag along with a cup of Italian, Caesar or light balsamic dressing. Seal the bag and let the chicken marinate for about 10 minutes. Then toss the chicken onto your grill and cook over medium heat for another 10 minutes. You can also cut up some of your favorite veggies and cook them right alongside the chicken.

The Ultimate Barbecue Burger

Preheat your grill for high heat, and baste your grates with vegetable or canola oil (to prevent meat from sticking). Mix the following ingredients in a large bowl: 1 pound ground beef, 1 beaten egg, ¼ cup cooking oats, a dash of salt and pepper, and 1 teaspoon of dry onion soup mix. Shape the mixture into 4 to 6 burger patties, and toss them onto your grill. Cook each patty for about 5 minutes on each side.

Sumptuous Flank Steak

Mix the following ingredients in a medium bowl: ½ cup vegetable oil, 1/3 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 2 cloves garlic, a dash of pepper and a squeeze of lemon or lime juice. Pour your marinade over 1 ½ pound flank steak in a glass bowl and refrigerate for approximately 6 hours. Preheat your grill for medium-high heat, and baste your grates with vegetable or canola oil. Cut flank into individual steaks as desired and place the steaks onto grill. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, depending on how well done you like your steaks.

Grilled Salmon Perfection

Mix the following ingredients in a small bowl: 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and ¼ cup vegetable oil. Drizzle lemon pepper and garlic powder over 4 to 6 salmon fillets and place them in a re-sealable plastic bag with your marinade. Refrigerate for 2 hours and grill your salmon at medium heat. Each side will need approximately 6 to 8 minutes on the grill.

Healthy Eggplant Sandwich

Cut a medium-sized eggplant into ¼ inch slices. Brush the slices with olive oil and drizzle them with salt and pepper. Grill the eggplant over medium heat for about 2 to 4 minutes on each side, or until the eggplant is tender. Brush olive oil and basil pesto over two pieces of bread, and add your favorite veggies, including red peppers, tomatoes, spinach, and even jalapenos if you're fond of spice.
