DCS Cooking Grate Styles
Porcelain-Coated Steel Rod Grates
Earlier DCS grills commonly used porcelain-coated steel rod cooking grates. While they provided excellent cooking performance, years of high heat and weather exposure could cause the porcelain coating to chip or wear away, making replacement necessary.
Finger-Style Cooking Grates
DCS 36-inch and 48-inch grills have long used their distinctive finger-style cooking grates. These grates feature raised channels that provide excellent heat retention and even cooking performance.
Earlier DCS finger grates were manufactured from porcelain-coated cast iron. Current OEM replacements are made from cast stainless steel, offering improved durability while maintaining the same finger-style cooking surface. The original porcelain cast iron grates have been discontinued.
