Does this electrode produce a spark?
No. This is a hot surface ignition (HSI) electrode, so it does not create a spark. When the grill is ignited, the electrode heats up and glows to ignite the gas.
What if the electrode does not glow?
If the electrode does not glow, first check whether the electrodes on the other burners glow when their control knobs are pushed in. If another burner works, try swapping the microswitch assembly with one from a working valve to determine whether the microswitch is preventing power from reaching the electrode. If the electrode still does not glow after confirming the microswitch is functioning properly, the electrode should be replaced.
