Signs Your Sear Burner May Need Replacement
- Loud whooshing or popping during ignition or operation
- Visible cracks in the ceramic surface
- Internal rattling from a damaged baffle
- Warping or physical damage to the burner housing
- Uneven infrared heat that remains after proper cleaning
Delayed ignition or weak heating can also be caused by grease, soot or debris blocking the burner ports. Clean the burner and verify the gas supply before replacing it.
Clean Before You Replace
Many infrared burners are replaced when they only need proper cleaning.
Use the Burn-Off Method
After cooking, operate the Sear Zone on High for 5–10 minutes with the grill hood open. The radiant heat will carbonize grease and food residue into ash.
Vacuum Loose Ash
Once the burner is completely cool, lightly vacuum loose ash from the ceramic surface.
Do not scrub the ceramic or use a brush attachment. Pressure can damage the tiles, and brushing may force debris farther into the burner ports.
Never Use Water
Do not use water, degreasers or liquid cleaners on an infrared burner. The ceramic can absorb moisture and crack when heated. If the burner becomes wet, allow it to air-dry completely for 24–48 hours before lighting.
Replace the burner if the ceramic has large cracks, the burner rattles internally or proper cleaning does not restore even infrared heat.
