Do not install a briquette tray over an infrared sear burner. On RS models, the infrared burner position does not use a briquette tray.

How the Briquette Tray Works
The ceramic briquettes absorb and radiate heat from the burner, helping distribute heat evenly across the cooking surface and reduce direct flame exposure.
Periodically remove the tray and brush away caked-on grease and debris. Never use water or liquid cleaners on the ceramic briquettes. Use a dry, soft-bristle brush.

Is there a quality difference between the OEM and aftermarket briquette tray?
Based on our experience with both versions, we have found the quality of this aftermarket briquette tray to be excellent and believe it has an edge over the OEM tray. It features stainless steel construction and is designed as a direct replacement for the original Delta Heat briquette tray.
How do I clean my briquette tray?
For routine cleaning, use a dry brush to remove grease and debris from the ceramic briquettes.
For a deeper cleaning, remove the ceramic briquettes from the tray first. The empty stainless steel tray can be cleaned with soapy water. Rinse it and allow the tray to dry completely before placing the ceramic briquettes back into the tray.
Never wash or soak the ceramic briquettes. Moisture can cause the briquettes to deteriorate and disintegrate.
