Replacing 80743? Yes. OEM part 81661 supersedes 80743. The newer assembly uses retaining bars to secure the ceramic briquettes instead of the individual clips used on the earlier tray.
How Many Briquette Trays Do I Need?
- L600 and L601 with three standard U-burners: Use three 81661 briquette trays. The standard U-burner is part 33750.
- L600 and L601 with a ProSear burner: Use two 81661 briquette trays because no tray is installed above the infrared burner. The current ProSear burner is part 33943.
- L700 and L701: Part 81661 is used in the center position. These grills also use part 80744 in the side positions, with the required quantity depending on whether the grill has all U-burners or a ProSear burner.
- Important: A briquette tray is never installed above the ProSear infrared burner section.
